CHAPTER 15: ANIMAL SHAPES AND SIZES

Learning About Animals Surface Area and Volume Applying SA-to-Vol Ratio to Animals Create a New Animal
  • Learn some basic facts about animals to assist you later on in the project.
  • Use manipulatives to compare and contract surface area and volume.
  • Examine how surface area and volume change as the sides on a shape are doubled, tripled, etc.
  • Apply your knowledge of both surface area and volume to animals to determine why certain species have different shapes and sizes.
  • Create a new animal that meets specific dimensions based on your learning in the first two parts.
